Pony of the Week

RevRuby did an excellent of pulling off the one thing I have absolutely no wish to try my hand at - sewn pony clothes! I love them when they’re done as well as this, but the tiny stitches this would require are one thing I have no patience for. Luckily this artist not only has the patience, but does an excellent job with them. So cute!

I looooooove circuitry patterns, and am a giant nerd, so I adore this pony. The artist ImmortalPanda is a fantastic drawer, and has done some lovely pony customs as well. Look how carefully mirrored these markings are! This was hard work, and she totally pulled it off.

Grand Galloping Gallery - Galaxy

This pony was hand painted and sealed, including the eyes as always. She was rehaired with pony hair of nine different colors and then styled. This was a pony that originally had a 3D symbol - the display side you see in this picture is the one I cut the symbol out of and then patched with sculpy.

3D symbols have always looked weird to me, probably because the Hasbro-made ones look to me like someone attacked a pony with a hot glue gun and cheap trinket. If the looked like this I’d love them instead. Padawanclaramel has done so much with so few sculpted flowers, lines, and colors. Hasbro needs to start designing their 3D symbols like this.

Pony of the Week

This pair of tiny lovelies were created by EllisPONY. They were original blind bag ponies - itty bitty little molded plastic ponies. They’re like an inch tall at the shoulder. This artist took them, stripped them down as best as one can when there’s no hair, and then sculpted the dragon bits on top before painting them. Basically these entire things are fine detail work, and they are stunning!

This pony is covered in many, many, many feathers, mostly down. The long feathers have hand painted details, and the eyes were hand painted and sealed.

This was an experiment that led me to sweeping up feather down for months!

HD My Little Ponies plushies that I made for my Artist Alley Booth inventory at Acen (anime central). I will be at booth #206. I’ll have a giant rainicorn plush over my booth. You can’t miss it. XD I had a TON of fun making these. They just crack me up how cute they are. They each are about 5 inches tall and 5-6 inches wide. They are just packed full of cuteness. Twilight was the last one I did, and the thing that took me the longest was finding the right colors. I’m very picky about that! Being a painter, i recognize the coloring and want to do it right. Rainbow Dash, again with those colors, and all the little pieces!!!!! was worth it tho!

Depending on how much the demand is. I may premiere a few on ebay before Acen for those of you that can’t make it to the con.

This lovely lady was created by Epona80, who somehow paints human-like lips on ponies and makes them look good. This is an excellent interpretation of a non-pony character, and I love that she did it completely without clay. What a steady hand, and what an amazing paint job!

I’m not normally a merpony custom sort of person, but this one may win me over. JoshsPonyPrincess did an amazing job with this custom: great sculpting, clean brushwork, beautiful hair that she even gradient-dyed herself! And not only is the pony gorgeous, it glows under blacklight. It even has tiny, removable side fins.

Just as it can be difficult to turn art from a show into a costume for cosplay, it’s hard to take an image from a cartoon and make it into a pony. janiceghosthunter has done a great job of both technically putting together a custom AND really capturing filly!Dash from the show.

Pony of the Week

A simple but fabulous custom by kalavista. The simpler the custom the harder it is, I think. What makes this pony work so well is the color scheme and the little details. The pink and the blue really pop with each other. The details are tiny, but captivating: the eyes are interestingly done, the stripes are glittery, and the hair is adorably styled. So much done with so little!
